Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role as a data analyst apprentice is currently looking at data that has been provided to me and seeing how it can be improved and what changes are needed. I then produce this data in graphical formats or presentations. I also work on projects that help me with my assignments.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy the programme. The team I am placed with are really welcoming and helpful and really want to help me succeed in my apprenticeship. The work I have been given, ties in with the assignments that have been set out for me by QA. The team try and give me different projects to help me boost my knowledge of the bank.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Since joining NatWest, I have been able to develop many of my skills, such as: presenting skills, collaborating with different teams, working independently, working with new people, Microsoft Office skills, communication skills, IT skills (programming, databases, Excel). I also learnt how to present in a professional setting and how projects in the bank are structured.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The induction to the programme was really helpful, there were lots of opportunities to meet with other apprentices via Zoom. The training has been really helpful and the tutours respond quickly and provide constructive feedback. Studying can be challenging at times especially if there is a lot of work to do but the team and the training provider are very understanding so you are able to ask for extensions to deadlines.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My line manager has been really welcoming and has provided me with advice on how to settle into the team. He also looks for projects within the team that will also help with my apprenticeship. The support provided by my employer has been great, there are numerous modules and resources that I can access whenever I need help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My tutor has been really supportive and has provided my with great resources for both my work and my learning. When I ask for feedback or have a question about an assingment, my tutor does his best to respond within 2 days. If i have a problem, i am able to contact the QA team and they quickly respond.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
What I learn on my apprenticeship helps me with my day to day tasks in the bank. We are shown resources that help us make analysing data easier and what we can do if we don't have access to certain software. I have applied some of the recommendations from my learning to my work and it has helped me with my projects.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
In my team there are numerous events and programmes both in person and on zoom which provide an opportunity to network. The apprenticeship team at NatWest also offer training on Zoom, this helps us to learn new skills and to also network with other apprentices. There are also volunteer opportunities at the bank .

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
NatWest is a really great organisation to begin your career or start as an apprentice. The support they provide helps you to progress your skills not only in the bank but also in your every day life. The staff are really friendly and supportive of each other which makes the workload easier to handle.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
Study the purpose of NatWest and think of how that applies to you and your beliefs. For the interviews, just be yourself and don't worry if you make a mistake or if you don't know how to answer a question they will understand and not make you feel embarrassed. The on boarding process can also be quite challenging as there are many documents that you have to send off, so my advice would be to prepare your documents in advice and send them all together as the sooner you send them the quicker the process is.
