Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I spend my day attending daily huddles and daily allocation calls. On the huddle we discuss any call outs and successes from the previous day and ask if anyone has any technical issues to discuss. On the allocations call we allocate out any requests that were submitted from the previous day. I will spend the rest of my day gathering authorisation for any new request or working a request that is already authorised. I will also work on any PI work and we have a rota where we cover the inbox and queues so depending on the day I will answer emails in the team mailbox or monitor any incidents that come into the queue.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really like my team and they offer me a lot of support in any area. I have been able to go to them for help with my apprenticeship and they have been able to provide ideas of what I should include in my assignments. I really enjoy my programme because of this,

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt new coding skills. And I am in the process of learning new coding languages. I come from a musical based background so have no technical experience but I have been able to learn on the job and pick up new skills quickly. I have also developed my communication skills a lot more.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
There hasn't been a lot of guidance for what happens when you finish the apprenticeship. Usually you have to find out at each stage. There hasn't been much of a structure other than I have 2 years to complete my level 6 and level 8. And trying to get any extra information about courses and credits has been a challenge.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My team has been super supportive. They give me enough time to work on any apprenticeship assignment and time for me to do my training, I know that if I am struggling with any part I can go to anyone in the team and they will provide me with support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
QA have been really helpful with proving support. They have offered drop in sessions for any issues you might have or questions you need answered. If you don't finish your work during the training course they make sure to set up time to allow you to complete it outside of the course.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I have found that the apprenticeship I have been doing doesn't align well with my role so using the qualifications from my training has been difficult. I have possibly been using my training without realising it but throughout my apprenticeship I have struggled to put my training in to practice.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
My employer puts on a lot of webinars for different employee led networks. It means you can get involved with conversations with the CEO. I have been able to take part in different language training that the bank has put on which I will be able to use within my role.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I really like the employee culture. In my time working at the bank I have found everyone open, friendly and accepting. I especially enjoy working with my team. I have found them to be supportive, helpful and really friendly. We all get along really well with each other which makes a big difference.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
I took part in a boot camp before my interview and I believe that really helped me hone in on my skills and experience to prepare me for the interview. I think as long as you show you are open to learning new skills and pushing yourself you will be able to get through the application process.
