Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work within Cloud Security so my role is to communicate with internal customers and discuss their design consultancy/SaaS or Cloud Native Product and guide the customer to the right path and advice them with the right Security Controls. There is quite a lot of spare time where you can work on your apprenticeship and be studying.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy the programme because first of all the team is very welcoming. You can easily settle down and ask many questions as you like. Also the bank is very big but diverse as well so there are many different employee led networks you can join such as Multicultural Network

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have definitely learnt new skills. As Cloud technology is the future, I have been learning about Cloud Computing the basics of it. I have looked at the basic IT Security Fundamentals. Within my own time I have also looked at the basics of AWS, GCP and Microsoft Azure and seeing the difference between all services.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The bank is very structured with the apprenticeship. I have weekly 1-2-1s with manager giving them updates about my week and able to talk openly about anything. The apprenticeship team gets in contact on a regular basis and help us gain extra skills within the bank and able to network with other people.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is many support available from my employers. I have weekly 1-2-1's with my line manager and it is an informal update with my week and able to talk to my line manager about anything. The HR team is easily contacted with webchat or phone call and the intranet page has so much support on wellbeing.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from the bank working towards my apprenticeship. I am allowed to have a great work-life balance as well have time to study while working. I keep my line manager updated on my apprenticeship and helps me get to my highest potential within the bank.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My apprenticeship tutor gets in contact with me on a monthly basis asking for updates on my work and again it is a very open conversation and my tutor would be able to guide me onto the right path with the right expectation as well. I have been able to put theory into practice.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many different employee led networks available within the bank such as Multicultural Network, Gender Group, Rainbow Group etc. etc. as the bank is a very diverse place and everyone is welcome to join an network they would like. The bank offers 3 days off for volunteering and will get paid for the days off for it.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
First of all as a British Asian, it is a very welcoming place and the office location is very beautiful! You have the choice of working hybrid and the bank cares about your wellbeing. There is so much potential to grow your career at the bank and everyone does take care of you.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
When coming to the applications - bring out your personality - show them who you really are and what potential you can see in the bank. The bank cares about personality more over your experiences and show how your personality will create a good impact around your future team and the people around you
