Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am placed in a team called Enterprise service platform, altogether the team creates services to be used by consumers. I am in a department called application management and I am responsible for investigating into any issues or errors that are associated with our services and to fix them. I also am involved in changes that take place on our services.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I do really enjoy my programme. All classroom training and modules are relevant to my role which means that I can apply them day to day. I am learning something new everyday and getting opportunities to use my knowledge and develop further. I feel supported and encouraged by both my manager and apprenticeship asessor

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I came into my role with no past experience to what I do now. I have learned all about the bank and the purpose. I am learning new coding languages to support me in my role and also have built up my communication and networking skills which are essential to my role

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is very well organised. I was able to choose with my manager the trainings I wanted to complete this year which ensured they were suited to my role and development. I am always aware of when modules are to be completed and can track progress online to see what needs to be done.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My manager and team are supportive and flexible when it comes to my apprentice work, I am able to take time out to do my apprentice work when needed and my manager reduces my workload if I need more time. My manager also helps connect me to people who can support with my modules if it's something I'm not sure about
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have regular catch-ups with my assessor where I have to opportunity to speak up about any questions I have and before I have a module she will go through each question with me to make sure I understand. I feel completely supported and never had any issues. Most recently my training provider sent me a laptop to use on a learning course which meant I had full access to all the tools needed for that course
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My course is completely relevant to my role. I choose my courses for this year which meant I had full control over what I was going to learn which made sure it was all supportive of my day job. My courses have taught me new coding languages which I use day to day in my work role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is always something to get involved with through work. I have attended a lot of networking events which were balanced of in person and over zoom. There is a whole wellbeing portal which have lots of events to include everyone including yoga and meditation. As well as this there are lots of events run specific for apprentices including quizes and escape rooms most recently

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Natwest have countless benefits. There are so many opportunities available to grow and develop your career. They promote diversity and inclusion and have various networks open to everyone. When joining I didn't have all the essential things to work from home so they sent out a desk, chair, laptop and desktop to make sure I had everything I needed which shows how supportive they are to everyone.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
When applying it's important to have good knowledge about natwest- purpose, values, etc as this is very important to every member of staff. Throughout my time being with the bank I have connected to loads of new people and been able to find out more about what they do- doing so has helped me understand what other areas in the bank interest me for my career growth. Every staff member is friendly and will be more than happy to spend some time with you if you ask.
