Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My day to day job role involves working effectively within my functioning team we have a goal of producing scripts of code that counts the inactive and active users for different products that the teams use at the bank. Tasks attending meetings, helping with blockers and writing code all while learning and working. I have my own responsibility to keep up with work for my diploma and balancing the important work here at the bank.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I firmly enjoy my apprenticeship. NatWest has excellent teams and facilities to help you with any issues you may have, you truly feel a member of a great community the bank aims to deliver. The work balance is perfect to handle with a great salary and benefits you receive such as coupons and early finishes.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
my progress from when I first started has been impressive as I had no technology experience before I started at the bank. Now I have produced work that has been tested and approved all within 6 months. My knowledge of my company has greatly increased I understand my role and our teams purpose is.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Well organised I have regular meetings to catch up on progress and what goals I would like to focus on for the future. This level of care helps you guide a path and make sure you're not struggling. Also the QA programme is well structured and tailored to the specific job you are doing so any work you do is relevant.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Plenty of support I have regular meetings with both QA and NatWest to see progress, what I am doing right and areas I can improve. Also have the apprenticeship team who you can go to with any issues you have with your programme. Overall many different teams and people who check in with your well being.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
QA I have a check in every few months to see progress towards my degree to ensure I am on the right track. my mentor is very friendly and helpful so I know I can go to him in confidence with any problem. I would however suggest more regular meetings maybe after important classes or modules to make sure all is well.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification is very relevant, I take part in week long intense classes that are about databases or a coding language, this is very helpful as I can use what I learned and implement it to the work I am doing at the bank. Gain more knowledge and get practise so I am not completely new to the subject when my teams comes onto it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes there are variety such apprentice communities where you can work or socialise with different apprentices, I am have met many friends through this. Also events such playing football for charity or participating in voluntary days. Team at Edinburgh organise social drinks or meals to create a good community here at the bank.

Such a excellent company to work for with many different benefits such as your value account where you can get food discounts or days out. Also the community created is very friendly and helpful when you're just starting. My friends would enjoy the good work and social balance as you can still have a social life while balancing work.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
Best tips I can think of would be well confident in the interview and display the excellent skills you have.
