Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Technology consultant providing technical solutions to a wide range of customers, including migrations, deployments, virtualisation, cloud technologies and M365 usability. Day to day depends on the project work and which customer you're working with, a lot of Microsoft training is done because customers are moving to those sort of platforms and HPE specialise in Microsoft specific workstreams.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Each customer is different so I find some projects are less enjoyable than others, however, the programme comes with a variety of responsibilities and HPE/management are very encouraging and helpful in guiding your career path.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
IT skills have definitely improved in a wide array of technologies because I get exposure around them on customer projects, as well as taking certifications to gain an understanding of how to use technologies. Since I'm constantly working with the customer, communication and other basic soft skills have been developed.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is split into 1 day a week study and the rest of the 4 days either with the customer, or if you're not on a project then training days for certifications. It's set out clearly with a lot of support if you need it. It does become difficult to time manage the degree and work though so that's important to consider.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Manager and outer team are very supporting and encouraging, and will help you with any concerns or any questions! You can ask for a mentor to chat to about work and to guide you in your career, and any problems are dealt with efficiently as long as you communicate them!
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Training provider offers support sessions after lectures and most tutors are freely available to email if you have any concerns/things you don't understand. QA can be disorganised sometimes but this really depends on the course, self learning is required but support is easily there if you get confused.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I felt like only some modules have assisted me into my day to day role. For example, networking was good because it's used a lot in deployments or creating new physical infrastructure for clients, but most modules did not relate to the role and I felt like it was better doing industry level certifications.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
The company provide a lot of events and activities outside of work and sometimes during work for early careers, and load of big corporate networking events for both HPE employees and employees outside of HPE. Collaboration is very easy due to the amount of people in the company and it's very flexible.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Hewlett Packard Enterprise to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Good opportunity for people who lack experience to gain some confidence within the corporate world, but also good for people who have some experience in the corporate world. Very friendly and professional environment to work in, with a wide support network available if needed and can switch roles if needed.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hewlett Packard Enterprise?
Willingness to learn and showing eagerness are 2 qualities that HPE admire because one person doesn't know everything, but being able to learn and take in information is a good quality and allows you to be flexible within your job role, especially because technology is constantly changing so alot of opportunities were there.
