Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I look after children With additional needs in a residential home, undertaking their personal care needs and general care. I ensure their voices are heard. Also I work in the short breaks side some days which is where children come on different days. Filling out paperwork is a big part of my job!
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I am enjoying the programme itself, however I do struggle to find the time to complete. This is due to staffing change around sand not being able to compete it at home. I do find some subjects tougher than others to complete however all round I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed my communication skills massively since working at action for children. I also have learnt many new skills including timekeeping, resilience and learnt how to diffuse situations. I have developed my confidence a lot since working at action for children as I used to be very shy however the staff team being out my confidence.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I love using the bud application to do my NVQ on, it keeps everything organised and I know what I am due to complete next. The structure of the modules are layed out well meaning I always know how much I have to complete an when it needs done by.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I know I can go to my employer if I am struggling with any thing and he would try his best to try and help me out. I personally haven’t required any support yet. They also give me set NVQ days which are amazing when they actually stick to plans.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I know my training provider [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is always a phone call or email away if I need to get in contact about some support. She is always up for helping and has definitely gave me good support since I started my training. She always explains everything really well also!
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel the qualification helps me perform better in my job role as it is teaching me new things daily. Things I learn whilst doing my NVQ I use straight away in my work to see what a difference it makes and does make my job easier at times because I have learnt some better things.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
No there isn’t any extra curricular activities I can get involved with at work. However if there was any I would love to take part in social activities to continue improving my work relationships and allow me to build trusting friendships. I also would get involved in professional networking events.
