Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role mainly involves working as part of different engagement teams to audit end of year accounts. On a day-to-day basis I perform various different tasks that contribute towards the audit engagement, along with receiving coaching and training. I regularly work with my team to deliver these tasks and have several teams calls with them to discuss work. My work often involves several different tasks such as testing, sampling and verifying amounts.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I very much enjoy my apprenticeship programme. It can be challenging at times but the people I work with and the support I have in place make it much easier to enjoy what I do. Overall the programme is benefitting me immensely as I am learning and developing, which is enjoyable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a great deal of new skills as part of my apprenticeship, along with developing existing skills that I already held. I have learnt a great deal of new IT skills along with auditing skills that are very applicable to my job. I have also developed my communication, teamwork and confidence skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme that I am on is very well organised and structured. My work on different client is very clearly scheduled so I know what I am working on when. Along with that my exams and college time is very well split and timed so that I am able to get these done while also working.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is a great deal of support in place from employer. I have a buddy who helps with day to day things that I am unsure with about the programme and also work in general, he is also on the programme but a year ahead. Also I have a counselllor who is there for all my needs and who I catch up with regularly. She is a more senior person in the business and is there to support and aid my progression through the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
When working towards my qualifications I receive a lot of support from my training provider - First Intuition. EY contract them to provide tutoring for our several different modules that make up our qualification. They are very good in delivering these modules and between themselves and EY, provide a lot of support while I am doing the college courses and exams.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The modules that I work my way through as part of my qualification largely helps me in my role. The qualification modules are all involved at some stage during my work - and at the very least the ethics and basics from each module are needed every day that I work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are a vast number of different extra-curricular activities that I have the opportunity to get involved in at work, with EY offering many different 'networks' which involve activities. Personally I am involved in both 5 a side and 11 a side football with work which I play regularly and thoroughly enjoy, meeting many new people from it.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
EY is a great place to work as it is so diverse and inclusive. All members of staff who work in the company are friendly, approachable and always happy to help. The work we do can be challenging but the teams we are part of and work in make it enjoyable.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Ensure that you know the company well before joining and give a fair reflection of yourself within the interview stages. If you are a friendly and kind person, with a willingness to work, and who is a good team player then the application will be fine provided you are reflective of yourself.
