Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

opening and closing the business, welcoming guests at the door, serving drinks, serving food, serving desserts, cleaning, making drinks at the bar, talking to guest, stock rotation, seting up glashwash, relaying tables, polishing cutlery, security checks making sure windows and doors are locked, updating the computer so whole team now what each stage the tables are at.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i enjoy it a lot my trainer [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is very helpful she is always there when i need questions answered and if she dosen't know the answer then she will always find out for me nothing is to much trouble for her i can send her a email at anytine of the day and the response is always quick.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

learnt how to open and close the business, learnt how to do awp machine filling it up when empty, learnt how to take in a delivery and what to do if stock is damaged or missing, how to deal with complaints, what o do if someone has a accident at work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

very well organised it is split into smaller sections which an very detailed and i can learn a lot from them, i have a time scale to complete each section which is reasonable and achievable.
i do find though that some of the sections are very repetive and covers the same thing more than once.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

i get loads of support from general manager at my site weather that is answering questions i keep asking, filling in my skill endorsment sheets for my modules i have completed, even helping me to revise for both my english and my maths exams by going thorugh practice papers with me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

i receive alot of support from my trainer, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is amazing i can whattsapp or email her at any time and i will always get a response with the answer im after. she has a very positive attitude and is always praising me and giving me guidance and pushing me for me for example asking to me to provide more info in my notes wetaher that is a picture of a menu or somehing to do with h/s
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

it has given me lots of knowledge about different things such a ddp, all the different acts with the hospitality sector, all the many service steps and service styles that are available in the hospitality sector, its given me a broaden knowledge of allergens and what all the 14 allergens are and what foods contain them.

the world has been in tough place with covid and whitbread has looked after all its employees physical and especially our menatl health there is always plenty of people we can talk to if we have any fears or worrys weather they are covid related or not. they always listen to our questions and are always finding way to improve things they are a very diverse copmany to work for and take equality very serious
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
just apply for the job dont think twice it will benefit you they are a great company to work they offer great apprenticships and you can progress through the compnay if you put the time and effort in you will go far with the company. whitbread is agreat company to work for weather that is in the restaurants or one of the premier inns.
