Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is mainly within the kitchen. Preparing and cooking foods to make meals for our guests. Included in this I also undertake house keeping tasks, book work and montioring things such as wastage abs cleanliness of the kitchen environment. I sometimes assist with stick taking and good orders as well, but mostly my role on shift is on the mains section plating the meals
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy meeting with my trainer and talking things over, asking questions and seeking advice on next steps. I complete work and discussions on my visits as well as completing tasks and coursework independently at home. I enjoy my research projects and exploring different things from within and outside of my job role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I have further been developing my leadership skills on shift, and building confidence with this. I have been shown how to put a good order onto the computer, how to send it, edit it etc. I have also done some work on monitoring and assisted with stock taking a few times .

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Yes very well organised. I am given clear guidance and instruction on what to do for each task, then monitored and supported in completing these tasks. If I need any help I can always ask for it or for something to be explained in a different way, if I am unsure.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lots of support and guidance is received from everybody I work with. The general manager, restaurant manger, kitchen manager, team leaders, team on shift, all colleagues realiy.. if I need any help at all I just have to ask any one and they are always happy to help when needed
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my trainer. I speak to her most weeks, with updates on my work, asking advice or questions about the tasks that are set, checking things or asking fir something to be explained to me. I also complete some of the work on my visits with her.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Because I feel like it is giving me a purpose, an aim, an opportunity to step up, to prove myself, that I’m capable of so much more, it is giving me a boost when needed, and helping me to build my confidence within work and proving the point even to myself that I can achieve something
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Not not really, but we all have our own friendship groups and we see socially active outside of work. We would speak most days in and out if work, and on occasion would make plans, meet up, do stuff outside of work such as cinema, bowling, meals out etc we occasionally do such things as a whole team as well

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Whitbread plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because I feel it is very worthwhile doing, for the points I made above here. It makes you feel like your doing something good. The encouragement and I praises you get is well received, it builds your confidence so much and your self worth, self belief that you can do it, you are better than you think
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
Take the chance.. it’s easier than you might think, it’s not over whelming at all and there is so much support available if you do need it. It is mostly work related learning so is part of your daily work anyway without seeming like you are actually doing anything extra
