Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Helping to increase sales while providing an excellent experience for customers in our store, and also acting as a face for the company. I’d interact with customers daily and learnt lots of different sales techniques and communication skills, not to mention team work skills and working in a diverse environment
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, I had excellent support from my training providers and assessors as well as other sources in the company. The apprenticeship I did made learning fun, it wasn’t too formal therefore I would look forward to coming to work as it would be enjoyable. Would highly recommend

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Many skills! Communication skills, sales techniques, how to handle difficult and vulnerable situations carefully and appropriately. Adapting styles of communication and up-selling techniques to the customer while providing them with 5 star service and the products they really want and need. Many business skills that have took me far into the position I’m now in.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I found it very well structured and organised, everything was set out clearly and I always had someone to go to if I was stuck or had any queries. The online work books are extremely helpful as everything’s in one place and easily accessible, with my own tablet to work from.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I mainly had communication through Superdrug’s apprenticeship team, who are absolutely amazing and are there at any point you need them. What I really appreciated and enjoyed, was that if my personal assessor wasn’t free there was always someone else to contact and it was never an issue to do so. They are all so supportive, especially [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] who I had for my second apprenticeship after this one, she constantly went above and beyond and had real passion and pride in her apprentices and truly wanted us to all do well and succeed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I received So much support, they all go completely above and beyond to make sure you have the correct support in place and if you are ever struggling there would always be a way around it and to come out the other side more confident than before. They would go to extreme lengths, explaining everything in detail and checking in on us regularly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification taught me skills and techniques that I never knew I needed and definitely didn’t have before. It has made me significantly more confident and passionate in my role and dealing with a variety of different situations appropriately and confidently. I still refer back to things I learnt and pass it on to my team where I can.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
With this apprenticeship I travelled to london to the strand Superdrug store, to meet with a group of other apprentices for a work shop. It was nice to socialise with people in the same boat as me, and definitely increased my confidence as I was very young at this point and definitely hadn’t done anything like that before.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Superdrug to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The apprenticeship scheme is incredible, and as I have already started, given me many life skills that I still use to this day and will take to any future jobs / roles. I felt so supported and I feel as though that is so important, especially due to how young I was when I started at Superdrug it taught me a lot of life skills that are important.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Superdrug?
Go for it! Rely on those around you to support you as they honestly do not mind and want to see you succeed. Never doubt yourself because once you see those apprenticeship results you will realise how amazing you can really do! Stay on top of the work, and see the life skills you carry through into your next roles/jobs
