Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Each day entails a different set of tasks to do to support my team and store. These can include till work, cosmetic control, pulling stock, facing up shelves and general cleaning. I also get time each week to go over my training which allows me to receive the most benefits of my apprenticeship learning. Your learning to be a sales advisor so you learn the basics from the very beginning allowing you to gain experience and support from the very start
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the learning, it’s informative enough I feel I am gaining lots from it, I also enjoy the company and people I work within from managers, colleagues and area managers. I also enjoy engaging with the public and helping them find what they need within store
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I’ve been able to develop my communication, problem solving and confidence skills massively.. As well as this I’ve been taught how to efficiently work well within a team and achieve set daily goals.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program is very well structured, I have workbooks to work through set over a long enough period of time it’s reasonable to complete them, I also get one hour of study time per week to work through these, as well as additional support from my apprentice leader and team in store. The learning is structured into sections that allow me to learn about a new topic roughly every 4-5 weeks.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support and encouragement from my employers. My managers support me within store with my learning and experience. And I also get encouragement and support from our area manager who visits often and catches up with me
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive lots of support from my training providers, we have monthly zoom calls to discuss my progress and experiences within work. My apprentice assessor is also available to talk whenever I need help or have questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think my qualification helps me to perform better in my role, when I first started I did the communication and customer based workbooks which allows me to develop my communication skills with customers massively and effected made me better at the job at hand from the very beginning. I think without it, it would have taken me longer to grow that confidence and knowledge I have now.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We always have fundraising opportunities through work with Marie curie. Where our store is located (Southend high street) theres sometimes fun days like pride parades, Chinese New Year and celebrations we also ways support and celebrate locally. We also have extra curricular learning, such as mental health learning/support and other relevant training.

Why?
I believe it is a supportive company that only wants you thrive and accomplish more as time goes by. You never have to stay in one place, you can go store to store and progress up.

Just be yourself, confident and friendly, be open to learning more and working with the public
