Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Checking guests into the hotel, ensuring the safety of every person on site by following fire safety and health and safety. Answering calls and emails, as well as guest queries. Dealing with complaints from guests and building a rapport to ensure they return to stay again. Keeping public and staff areas clean.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme is very learner centred and can do it at your own pace, the workload is sensible and easy to understand which is good so you can do independent learning. All tutors i have come across are passionate about what they do, they care about their learners and nothing is too much trouble.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt leadership and management skills during my time on the apprenticeship, and how to adapt these skills to suit the needs of the business and my team. I have also learnt how my actions can affect the success of the organisation which has made me aware of the way in which I act.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very well structured, tutor is always there to answer any questions I have and always made aware about what the next steps are of the apprenticeship. I’m always sure of what is expected of me and again if I’m not sure, I am always able to contact them to double check
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have asked my employer multiple questions that would have helped me and they were not sure of the answer. I have also asked them to fill in paperwork in regards to my performance to help with the programme but as of yet have not had anything back from them.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

A lot! As well as the normal one to one sessions I have been offered classroom training, online of course, for those things I don’t understand. They have always been understanding when I haven’t had time to complete work and always give me more time to finish it
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification is helping me progress in my role too! I’ve learnt about how as a business the hotel may work and how my personal attitude and performance can affect the hotel as a whole. It’s made me more aware of the way I act and how I can help improve performance with my team
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

None - but would be a good idea! For example, recently it was apprenticeship week and nothing was done to celebrate it, for lack of better terms. Would have been nice to have an event for apprentices from the area to get together to get to know each other and support one another

Would you recommend Whitbread plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a fun place to work, hard at times , but always rewarding. While the work life balance can be difficult sometimes, it is worthwhile. I feel like they care about their employees and are doing a lot to improve their company and work life balance for employees. Everyday is different
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
Make it clear to employer what you would like to gain from employment with them and a lot of the times you can work together to wards that goal, for example i told my manager I would like to work up the company and I have been given every opportunity to do so and improve myself
