Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My day to day role includes making the store legal and compliant. Ensuring the availability of the store is as it should be, managing a team of colleagues and making sure everyone is working towards a common goal. I also work under a store manager who helps me with this
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am currently enjoying everything I am doing in this apprenticeship. It pushes me out of my comfort zone and helps me with my career. The tutors are very helpful and lovely people. Even learning online has been enjoyable but it would be nice to have in person visits in the future

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
During my time in the apprenticeship I have learned many skills such as communication, business and team roles. These have helped me in my day to day job and I have brought a lot of the skills I have learned in to my daily routine. I have also developed existing skills in stock control

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I think that the program is very well structured. Everything I need to do is laid out clear on Onefile and also the tutors are also on hand to contact of there are any issues. The program is structured into group lectures and one to one sessions with tutors. This helps with working with people from different backgrounds.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
My employer supports me by giving me eight hours a week to work on apprentice related tasks. I feel this could be a little more as I feel I typically go over this. You also don't hear much from the company about progress or asking how things are on it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The training provider gives me lots of support and tutors are also on hand to talk if I need any advice or further training. They are happy to talk you through anything be that personal or course work. They also give you lots of websites and books if you need more help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification has already helped me a lot over the last 5 months and I already feel like I am a better team leader because of this. The communications skills I have learned help me interact with my team and customers more effectively as we as the customer service skills I have learned.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
To my knowledge there are no extra curricular activities that my work place offer but there are usually a number of charity events that I can get involved in as well as suggesting my own to organise. There are also cycle to work schemes that the co op offer too.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend The Co-op to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend the co op to my friends because it is an enjoyable place to work. The people I have worked with over the years are some of the nicest people I have ever met and also that progression through the company is encouraged and there are always opportunities going
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The Co-op?
The advice I would give to someone applying for the co op would be to learned as much as you can. There are many different jobs throughout the company and learning as many skills as possible will help you if you wish to progress. I also feel I has helped develop my people skills too
