Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my role i am required to carry out various tests on a patient, this includes ECG's, 24 hour ECG's, 24 hour blood pressures, event monitors and i also observe alot of invasive procedures for my university log book. I also analyse the 24 hour ECG's results to send to the doctors.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy what i am doing to the point where i look forward to working after the weekend. I have an amazing team at work and we all get along really well and help each other out. it is definitely the best decision i have made and i am very happy.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt lots of new skills due to me never working in a hospital setting before. it has improved my communication skills having my own list of patients each day, i have also learnt all the tests and analysis very quickly. I previously worked with adults with disabilities and mental health issues.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It is structured well, sometimes it can feel a little disorganised as it is hard to cater to the apprentices and full time students when they attend the lectures and we are unable to due to working, so sometimes the lectures go on late and it is more for us to catch up on.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
i receive a lot of support from my employer, i get regular study time at work and lots of help from other members of my team, another girl has done the same apprenticeship i am on so it is nice to have someone who knows the way it goes and help
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
A lot of support, if i have any issues i email them and get a phone call or email the same day, it is really nice to know we have someone there if we need it. Especially when were doing such a busy apprenticeship with working and studying its nice to have support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The first year i am currently doing is not helping me in my role because it is not specific to my job, so it doesn't feel relevant at all and it doesn't go towards our final grade so it is a little stressful because its unknown territory all the chemistry and physics.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
It has a gym and a library but i have horses so i am out the house 12 hours a day so i don't have time for any other extra curricular activities. but if i wanted more then i could, it does have a lot of networking events aso

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is supportive and like a family, it has a great pension scheme for those that find it important. there are so many different jobs and apprenticeships available so there is a role for everyone. There is a good support team as well to answer any questions or help someone with their mental health.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
Find something that you are interested in and go for it. make sure it is definitely something you want to do, but that is the same with any place. id also recommend working well with your team as its all about teamwork and you don't want to set off on the wrong foot.
