Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I support the service and how it runs, this includes working with the rota team, surgeons and admin teams to ensure seamless provision and solving any problems as they arise, whilst pre-empting to reduce capacity issues.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoyed being on programme for my apprenticeship.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed time management skills, I've always been fairly competent but this role requires the ability to juggle quite a few tasks at once.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very structured - I met regularly with my college tutor.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

They were there if I needed them at Rotherham Hospital and I could always go to them if I was struggling to complete any work tasks.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

So much support - my training provider was Barnsley College and they were so supportive.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The role was Business Admin Level 3 Standard and I feel this has helped me to perform better with considering different aspects, looking at challenges from the global market, managing stakeholders and how businesses run.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are sports events - such as marathons but I'm far too unfit for that at the moment!

Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The hospital is brilliant, I've worked elsewhere and this is my favourite. This is the second apprenticeship I've been supported with at Rotherham Hospital and they are very brilliant at supporting individuals to progress.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
Just be yourself - as long as your values align with the Trust's values - you will thrive.
