Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
In my daily role I carry out maintenance on a range of equipment. This involves fault finding and carrying out preventative maintenance to ensure efficiency of sites. My day to day jobs include; fitting new equipment , replacing faulty parts, fault finding and general checks to ensure the site is well.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my work very much , each day is different and I learn new skills daily. I work with amazing people and have a good team surrounding me. My management couldn’t be better and the support outside is also good. I have apprenticeship staff I can go to anytime!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
In my job I have learnt a range of new skills. One skill I have learnt is new mechanical skills. Although I am electrical / ica I still have to fit new equipment which involves some mechanical skills. One job I gained these skills through was fitting a pressure switch onsite.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
My programme is organised very well however there is a bit of an issue at the moment due to staffing issues at college. We have had a change of teachers and my new teachers are unsure how to deliver the upcoming units. Other than this my programme is very good.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer provides high levels of support, I have a mentor I can go to anytime, I also have my manager I can report any issues to as well as an apprenticeship team that are there for any questions or issues I have. I also have college staff I can report to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have a lot of support from my training provider, there are arrangements in place for me to get exposure to more equipment by going on site some weeks and going back to my normal job which is mobile and requires me to travel from site to site which is really good for my progress.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel the qualification helps me understand what is required of me in the work place. It has helped understand the dangers associated with engineering equipment and the environment I work in. It also helps understand the basics of electricity and how it works which helps further understand the equipment and how to fault find much easier.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes there are various events all year round we can attend, team building excercises, site visits etc. It is a very friendly environment and make you feel welcome. We get daily emails and notifications on upcoming events we can attend and are always encouraged to take place which is really good.
