I oversee the daily management of a 20 bed dementia specialist residential home. I deal with all aspects of care delivery, regulated activities and managing a team of 46 staff members.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Thoroughly enjoy the programme. We are moving at a pace that I am comfortable with, in a manner that meets my learning style and this has allowed me to enjoy what I am learning instead of feeling that it is being forced upon me as a requirement of my role.

I have regular contact with my training provider via email, telephone and online meetings. My assessor is available to answer questions and provides regular encouragement and supportive actions to help me stay on target.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

This qualification is mandatory in my role and supports all aspects of managing staff, providing care and support to staff and residents. It builds on a solid foundation of experience that I already have and gives my experiences validation.

As an employer DCC is very supportive and encourages self development and progression. Terms and conditions are extremely competitive and the working environment is safe, supportive and enjoyable.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Devon County Council?
Don't think that you might not have what the company is looking for, stretch yourself and take a chance and apply - not everyone fits into the same hole.
