Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
1/5
The program was a 3 year degree chartered management Programme with Tesco, with the hopes of becoming a store manager at the end of the programme at an Express store.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
I enjoyed my store placement, I met some good people in the business and enjoyed meeting new people from the college also.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
1/5
I have met some good colleagues in the business but in terms of new tangible skills I’d say no.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
With such a large organization, I hoped Tesco would have some organization when it came to the programme. However, it was very chaotic at times and candidates were often drip fed information of the programme which did not help. It was overall a negative experience.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
The support we received was little to none, My Programme manager often did not reply to emails or messages when it was important, overall made the experience negative.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
I cannot fault the training provider, they were helpful to the point they could be. But ultimately I was with them one day a week.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
Unfortunately I did not complete the programme as I resigned due to the feedback mentioned above, but had it been a successful apprenticeship I think it would have been a great apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
No

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Tesco plc to a friend?
No
Why?
Well, had it been just myself who had a negative experience and just resigned I would give the benefit of the doubt to Tesco. However, when several candidates decide to resign because of the programme handling then it becomes an issue.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tesco plc?
Think carefully, understand the progress of the programme and look into the company to see if this is what you really want.
