Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
There were certain aspects of the programme/ job role where it was hard to get advice about what was required.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
In addition to this I have learned many other soft skills such as stakeholder-management. I also feel like I have a good understanding of the industry
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
It does feel like the apprenticeship team don't communicate that well with your respective team, so you have to be on top of things yourself
How much support do you receive from your employer?
As long as you're willing to chase things then Barclays is a supportive company
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
Capella also made sure that Barclays was giving us enough time to focus on our apprenticeship qualification
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
Although I don't use what I learnt everyday, I am more aware of what to do when the opportunity arises i.e. working on specific projects, assisting other teams
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
Sociability depends on the team you're in.
Barclays actively encourages you to volunteer and you can take 2 days extra leave to volunteer somewhere
Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
Why?
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
Don't be nervous- everyone else is just an employee like you, they're not there to catch you out.
Past experience in banking/finance is good but not essential- try think of times where you've had to use: customer service, problem solving, leadership, teamwork
