Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
working as part of the engineer team along side my mentor or one of the other employees that is part of the team. on a day to day basis i will be assisting and observing the jobs they carry out on different types of machinery and piece of equipment from PPM jobs to more reactive work when something breaks down. i also have time that i can use to help finish my college and apprenticeship work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I have enjoyed working as part of a team with the other apprentices and my work colleagues. i find the work that i am doing interesting and like the challenge of learning. but i have found that the lack of communication and structure of the apprenticeship outside of college frustrating.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
yes i have developed new skill at college and work from machining to electrical skills and maintenance. it has also help to develope some existing skills

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The initial part of the programme felt relatively well structured. i have found the lack of structure and plan for the training that needs to be done within thames water frustrating as college and activate have target and goals but there is none for thames that are standard.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
rom the people that i work closely with there is support and they will help you where they can from my mentor, assessor and manager. from the apprentice team there has been very little communication this year or engagement.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
i have found the support from the training provider to be helpful when its based around using smart assessor. with the college i have found that with the remote learning that support was not adequate to make for a good learning experience.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
i feel that there is a bit of a disconnect between what i am doing at college this year and what i will be expected to do at work and the role that i will be fulfilling. the electrical work i am doing at college doesnt match what i will do at work. where as the mechanical side was a closer match
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
this is not applicable at this time with covid and most events are based at other sites
