Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Analyzing current/past data in the hospital.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The QA program has been very good. I have learned alot of really useful skills, especially around SQL and Power BI. Also alot of useful soft skills around being an analyst as well. Tutor has been supportive. Getting the time has been hit or miss but it gets there.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Broadly: various different software packages, coding, work intuition... mostly via my apprenticeship but a little shadowing/asking the team.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Most of the time, the QA program is sensibly structured and their online system is easy to use. However, there are some parts in the granular detail which have clearly come from a slightly more advanced program, which is fine as stretch activities but difficult as a mandatory activity.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer lets me get on with it which is good. Sorting out projects and getting my line manager to co-operate has been easy which is really good. Friendly team. Prioritization is tricky, but that's as standard.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Person wise, it is excellent. My tutor has got back to me quickly. In the classroom, the tutors give hints and tips along the way, so I never feel like I'm in the dark. Everyone is knowledgeable. Criteria was shared for the exams. I'm not easily impressed so...
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Greatly, especially when it comes to the SQL and Power BI skills. However, the whole course has been really useful or it will be useful. I do feel like I know more about what I'm doing and more confident, which is great.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
Limited. Health and Wellbeing volunteers have recently been introduced, but beyond that it doesn't exist. It's the NHS, we don't have the money!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
You get to work for the NHS but also the HR policies are generally pretty fair and -most- managers won't tell you off for no reason. Just be mindful to stick to your hours as you won't get paid more and the work is infinite!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
Everything is in black and white when you apply to pass the interview but it is just a guide in reality. Counter intuitively, if you are stressed to breaking point, taking the time off is usually seen more favorably than gritting your teeth within reason.
