Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As I am working for a branch of government there are certain tasks I can not mention as that would violate the secrets act I have signed. I can however mention that I am tasked with preparing daily GL reports and distributing them among my team. As well as this I can be given many tasks to do from my boss but none of them are guaranteed to be given to me every day.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Although it is a lot of hard work and effort. So far I have found great enjoyment in my apprenticeship my fellow apprentices are all friendly and polite. As well as this, my co-workers are all lovely people and are always there to provide me with support and friendly advice.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since I had already done an accounting A Level I was somewhat familiar with the concepts and skills required for the job. However since starting I have learnt a lot more practical and useful as well as consolidating and building upon the existing skills I already had. This has made me a more competent worker able to provide a greater service to my organisation.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
At the beginning of the programme I found it to be very poorly organised as the apprenticeship coordinator I ignored most emails and requests sent to her as well as barely ever contacting us about important information. However their replacement is much better they are always fast to reply and always keep me informed with every development of the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer provides a lot of great support for my apprenticeship. As apprentices we are paired with a second year apprentice as our buddy who can provide us guidance and experience to assist in our learning development. As well as this, we are provided with extra days off before exams in order to best prepare our selves.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The training providers give us lots of support. We have a apprenticeship coordinator who is always there to help with any questions we may have as well as providing advice and guidance. As well as this if we believe we are struggling with a topic our lecturers will organise 1 to 1 sessions to help us truly get to grips with a topic.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Though not everything I do for the qualification is going to help me with or apply to my job the topics that do (such as accruals) provide a great benefit. As well as this the actual act of acquiring the AAT certificate can also provide benefit to my job as it can open more opportunities and promotions to me.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
As a result of the coronavirus pandemic all of the extra-curricular activities have been postponed indefinitely. However I have heard from second and third year apprentices of some of the fun and engaging extra-curricular and teambuilding activities they got to partake in. As the lockdown ends I'm sure we will get to do these activities again.
