Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Day to day I visit clients sites or work from the office with a team of other auditors and perform tests on the financial balances in the accounts to ensure correct disclosure, calculations and to note any areas of weakness in control systems and potential areas where fraud or manipulation could occur.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
At the beginning I enjoyed my programme as I was young and what was offered was perfect for me, however what was supposed to be a 5 year course has turned into a 6/7 year course for me due to hiccups on both my employer and training providers side

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
As I joined as a teenager I had very minimal skills coming from school. My job has allowed me to develop several skills including communication, leadership, teamwork, using excel and other software, working under pressure, managing a small to larger team, running and leading meetings, and even increased my ethical standards.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
I think for several of my peers the programme is structured relatively well, however i feel like my circumstance was unique and it went from well structured to quite bad. Transitioning from one qualification to the other which was part of the programme was not handled well at all and i was not well informed of what was happening, other than that the programme is structured well
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
My employer offers a lot of support for the programme and there is a wide range of options and resources available to help you. It is much better now, but in previous years not all of this was communicated well to us and a lot of us had no idea what support we could even obtain.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
There is a lot of support available from the training provider which every one has access to, and recently i have found that there is even more if you feel you are struggling and express this to them, however some of the materials aren't always as good as other providers ive seen
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I feel that the qualification has not helped me perform better in my role at all, the exams and assignments we do dont always correlate to our job, and even when they do eg when i had to do a presentation about how i use skills in the work place, it doesnt better me, im just showing it
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are several extra curricular activities to get involved in at my work, social activities are run quarterly in groups, there are several groups/teams you can join and become a part of who do their own things, and there is sports day and the Christmas party both once a year

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend RSM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
There are several benefits to working at RSM, and the company have a lot to offer. As an employee, i feel like there is a lot i can access and learn (and have learnt) from working at RSM, and in the 5/6 years i have worked there i can truly say it has become a nicer place to work
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSM?
When applying to RSM, really think about what job you want or at least what skills or things you enjoy - there are over 50 service lines at RSM and so if you choose the one right for you, you wont regret it. That being said, the company is good at allowing internal transfers and secondments to other departments
