Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Manage the administration of day-to-day tasks in the workforce education team
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am loving it. It has been worth every penny so far.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Since starting the apprenticeship I have learnt so much information regarding strategy and operations

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I do feel we were going to be a bit more spoon-fed but we were left to our own devices more than expected. This probably helped us to push ourselves and learn more but it was nerve-wracking being my first unit.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Excellent support from a variety of different members of staff within The Trust.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
We had lots of options to be able to attend grammar and punctuation sessions. We did miss a few sessions due to a trainer being ill but we were able to watch previous cohort sessions instead. It was a hard unit to start with but we did really enjoy it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Very well. It has given me knowledge in an area that I had no clue about and now I feel I am capable of promotion within the NHS. I have a vast amount of experience but just needed that boost to move up a band.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Pre-COVID yes but at the moment no. We were trying to do social activities via Zoom but they have fizzled out.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The hospital is full of wonderful staff and if you get in the right department, you can be developed and promoted.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
Definitely look at doing an apprenticeship. Speak to Morgan Walsh, the apprenticeship coordinator. She will sort you out.
