Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
On a day to day basis, I audit company accounts by testing different areas of the financial statements. Agreeing Companiy's figures back to source documentation such as invoices and contracts to make sure the figures the company is using are an accurate representation of the company. I do this whilst studying for professional level exams.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The programme is enjoyable. The opportunity to meet new people and expand my network is invaluable. The work load can be a lot but gaining the ability to manage expectations is key and is learned very early in the job. Overall the programme is very enjoyable with many oportunites to do fun things.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed many skills, personable and professional skills. You quickly develop the ability to tal to different glevel of management with in the company and client. Including communication through email, face to face and presentation skills. I have also gained the skills to do my job through completing AAT level 3 and Level 4, and currently working towards ICAEW.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The programme is structtured okay. I feel there is more of an oportunity for those in the bigger offices such as London due to the many teams they have, however this is not the case in the northern offices, and rotation between the teams is limited, with comunication between those organising the rotations and those completing them being slow or confusing.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Managers and incharges alike are very supportive in all matters during the job. Whether that be exams, and more senior team members are supportive in giving you the time you need to study adequately for exams without putting too much pressure on work load. Wellbeing is also pushed a lot in order to make sure staff mental health is good.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
I feel the support from the training provider could be a lot better. At the minute we receive an email every few months asking how we are feeling about progression. Other than this there is no communication unless you personally reach out to them and even after this responses can be slow as it is not clear who from the training provider should pick up the query.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The tutors from the training provider make the training provider much better than the support given. The tutors reach out to students before courses outlining expectations and any support or things to note for the learning. From my experiance the majority of tutors are very helpful in explaining the material is different ways to suit different peoples needs. This allows a better understanding when performing our job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are some extra curricular activities to get involved in, however i feel that these are not well advertised and it is not clear as a new joiner how you would go about joining in with these. I also feel that these are all similar in terms of being mainly sport orientated which may not be suited to some people.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Overall KPMG is a great place to work, the support you need is received and a qualification can be gained. There is also an opportunity to gain a degree level qualification or higher without going to university and therefore means you do not start your career of in debt which i think is a bonus.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
Be Yourself, research into what you want out of KPMG, what clients/industries you would like to work with; which teams within KPMG you find interesting. On Assesment days, you arent always expected to have the correct answer (there are multiple correct answers) it is also about working in a team as this is a main part of the job, so listen to other peoples points and views but also make sure your voice is heard. Lastly take all the opportunities that come your way, it will improve your carreer
