Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Involved in confectionery new product development and managing projects from concept to launch as well as technical support in the factory.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy that every day is different in this role and I have the opportunity to learn in so many different environments. Being able to learn on the job and gain a degree at the same time is invaluable in gaining experience and understanding the food and drink sector.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt confectionery skills, project management skills and havd developed on my communicative skills and confidence.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
My apprenticeship was handled slightly different to the usual apprenticeships within Nestle in that we were under the Innovation & Renovation function rather than the academy. Due to this it wasn't as structured as I had expected but we had good support.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I received so much support from my managers throughout my apprenticeship and from my colleagues. I was given the time needed to do uni work everyone was more than happy to sit down and talk though their specialist subjects.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The uni of Lincoln provided lots of support and my mentors were especially good during my dissertation. We had regular catch ups where my work was reviewed and I was given lots of help and recommendations to further improve my work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I felt like my degree and apprenticeship worked well together. Even though I work in confectionery I was able to pull a lot of what I was learning across into my everyday role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
We have a gym on site which allows us to be social with colleagues especially during classes however there are no social clubs. Instead you have to organise something with your team if you want to be social outside of work.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Nestlé to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend Nestle as they provide a lot of support and funding to young people starting out in their careers. They are a big company which opens many more opportunities in the future.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nestlé?
I would advise people to be themselves and go with their instinct. Nestlé is a very diverse company and are looking for a range of people all with different views and opinions to challenge the way we work and keep making improvements.
