Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a designated manager and my main role is to learn from and support other managers. Every day I send and reply to e-mails and solve my colleagues' problems. Sometimes I do morning briefings and tell my colleague what to do. I also cover other managers in their absence.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The program is very interesting, and allows you to gain a lot of knowledge about being a manager and managing people. You can learn a lot of things that you did not know or were unaware of that they are very complicated. I think is very helpful for a new managers.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I learned a lot during my new role mostly parts related to company policies, and rules and HR. I have also developed my self-awareness and I am more confident. I also learned a lot of techniques of managing and training colleagues. For the moment I am further deepening this knowledge.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I believe it is well organized. The website we work on is very easy to use, everything is very well explained. All the tasks and topics are arranged in a very good way and this makes it easy to use the knowledge gained in the previous tasks to solve the future tasks.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have support from many people in the company. My manager often asks how I am doing and if I need any help. My colleagues/ managers also make sure that I am gaining enough knowledge in the department. They are all very open to supporting me and helping me gain knowledge.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
They are very helpful and I can always count on them. My trainer always helps me in case of difficulties, I have constant contact with him. I also have a video meeting with him every month to talk to him face to face. However, on a daily basis I can contact him by e-mail and receive a reply in just few minutes.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I think that the whole program is very helpful, it allows you to develop your knowledge and familiarize yourself with many topics. Also helps in learning many useful things such as work organization and managing colleagues. It also allows us to improve relationships in the team, and between a manager and colleagues.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
The only activities at work that I can get involved in are various charity collections for people in need. In my apprenticeship I can attend in group classes where we discuss many interesting issues related to our apprenticeship. Several times a year there are also events such as 'funfair', but often they are on days when I am at work.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Dixons Carphone to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I consider it is a good and stable company. There is very little risk of dismissal in the warehouse and there is a great opportunity for personal development and skills development, and with time there is an opportunity to improve your position. I believe it is a very developing company.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Dixons Carphone?
The most important thing is to prepare well for the interview because preparation is essential. Also, there is nothing to be afraid of because the work is very easy and safe, but also to be prepared for the fact that it is a company that works all year round, day and night and we do not always have days off when we would like.
