Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I carry out test automation activities on a daily basis. I help different teams and colleagues with their automation queries and work on different projects to help drive test automation for the business. I also get involved in different company projects, improvement streams and giving back opportunities across the company.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I definitely enjoy and feel grateful for the opportunities and experience which I have recieved and I wouldn't have chosen a different path. I have found however that, especially since the pandemic, my workload has massively increased and I find myself doing overtime on a daily basis in my job role as well as spending most evenings completing University modules for completing the degree associated with my apprenticeship.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have excelled in my experience and skills related to coding and software development, particularly in Java. My knowledge surrounding testing methodologies and concepts has also increased massively since working in my role. My awareness of what different types of technology exist has grown as I have had experience using Java, XML, Html, Selenium, Cucumber BDD.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I feel that the programme has definitely improved its structure since I started it, for example I now have my online webinars during the day rather than in the evenings which has made the day more comfortable for myself. I feel that more could be done however for actively getting apprentices to contribute toward shaping this structure more.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
From my personal experience, I feel that my employer and colleagues have been very supportive for me in my job role and for making arrangements around my university work and assignments as well. I feel comfortable that I can go to my manager and speak about any issues that I have and work around them.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I like how my training provider has adapted to make changes to parts of the programme in the presence of the pandemic, for example converting the standard closed book exams to be 24hour open book assessments which I have found more appropriate and ideal for myself to work around in relation to my personal circumstances.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I definitely believe that the content which I have learnt/gained from completing my degree has helped me with my understanding in my role. The concepts and techniques which I have learnt from the degree side of the programme I have been able to utilise in my job role to excel in what I do.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Definitely, there are plenty of additional activities inside and outside of working hours to do. With my employer, they have an EventHub which is used to organise numerous events across the business from different individuals and speakers on a daily basis. There are also group activities which teams organise together to perform within/outside of work.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's an alround brilliant place to work and an amazing way to advance yourself and your skillset. I have fully enjoyed my time working at the company, having greatly excelled in my technical abilities and achievements. I feel proud and a sense of belonging with the company and think the work and the people are fantastic at Capgemini.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
Don't be afraid to just go for it. You might think to yourself before hand that "I will never get this because of X and Y", but if you have a genuine enthusiasm and willingness to learn and apply yourself to the role then all you need to do is be confident in yourself and to keep on moving forward.
