Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Currently I’m taking the role of a store assistant to get me used to the store and getting the hang of the day-to-day work life. This involves tills, carding the store, putting up stock and much more.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I find the programme really good on the practical and in store period. Its very productive and hands on the only thing i’d say is i’d love to learn more higher up stuff. The course side of the apprenticeship is moderate, personally i find it simple but good.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I’ve learnt a variety of new skills practical and social such as working the till, stocking up, flush to edge etc as practical and improving communication skills, customer service skills as the social side.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
To be honest my programme at the minute is very 90:10 by that i mean its a lot of work in the store and i need to be doing some of the course work to make sure i can continue
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Quite a fair bit to be fair like the staff and managers make sure that i do the right thing every time and they teach me tricks about the job that make it easier for me
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Not much support it’s mostly like heres the information write notes and be ready but I prefer it that way because I like working without any complications where possible
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel like for the long term my qualifications will help me out to achieve the role I want to achieve. At the moment it helps to an extent but it will be more helpful the longer i go.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There are no extra-curricular activities at work as the work place demands 100% attention at all times. I personally think that the work place should do something as all the staff members together for 1 day when possible to bring that sense of a team together

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because Aldi is such a good opportunity to get into the work life. It has high expectations and demands but if you are able to meet them you will succeed for sure.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
Be yourself firstly, trying to put on ‘the perfect employee’ persona can be very obvious and employers are looking for you as you. Be committed because once you step foot into aldi you have to be 100% at all times as I’ve mentioned
