Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On a day to day basis I write java code including writting different APIs and batch processes. I attend a daily stand up and meet with other members of my team throughout the day to go over what work needs to be done and new approaches of tackling work effectively.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the program a lot. This is because I am trusted and looked at as another employee. There isn't exactly a barrier between a standard employee and an apprentice as I am trusted to do the same work as everyone else even while still learning. University is a good experience to start learning new things also.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Throughout the start of my apprenticeship I have developed on existing skills and learnt new ones too, mainly in Java - which I had prior experience in - as that is the language I am currently working with. I have also learnt good coding standards and best practice to carry with me throughout my career.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The program is very well organised. I am constantly kept up to date with things going on within the apprentice community and the stuff relating to my program. The university are very good at keeping in contact with us regarding lectures and assessment submissions etc. There are also lots of info pages to help us along the way.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer gives lots of support, they allow for me to get on with work and don't turn away from questions when I become stuck or in need of a bit of assistance. They also allow me to take study leave days to help me focus on the training side of the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
From the University, they provide lots of support for all the apprentices on my program. The learning resources on their website are very good and informartive about different things we are required to do. Every other week we partake in webinars to answer everyones outstanding questions from the work that has been set.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
By starting learning my qualification, it enables me to get a greater understanding of systems development - pointing me towards good coding practices and also enlargening my knowledge by teaching me new programming languages which I could look into exploring further possibly in a new team with my company later on in my career.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Due to Covid, I haven't been given the oppurtunity to engage in any extra-curricular activites. But now everything is returning to normal more and more activities are opening up for us to partake in. There is a gym on site which allows for us to use it and partake in classes also.
