Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am an online and digital manager which involves looking after the online strategy for two of our biggest online retailers. This includes portfolio management, product visibility, eContent management and media booking. I am the lead eBusiness champion in my sales team to drive the eCommerce agenda in their day jobs.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The CMDA scheme at Nestlé was a fantastic way of learning all about the different commercial roles that are available in an FMCG and allowed me to understand where by skills and preferences lie. I loved having that firs-hand experience of the working world from such a young age.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt how to coach individuals by going on a coaching course, provided by Nestlé. I have also developed my data analytic skills via various projects used to map out online strategies and priority focus areas. I have also learnt how to influence different stakeholders based on their behavioral preferences.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Great. We rotated functions every 6 months and went to university every 6-8 weeks for a week-long block study, this was the perfect amount of study:work time for me. The bit that lacked structure was coming off the scheme and support for apprentices having graduated, this could be hugely improved.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
This varied by team but the majority of teams I went into were supportive of the fact that I would be out for a week at a time, 3-4 times throughout my placement within their team. The majority also allowed time out for me to attend careers events to talk to students about the scheme
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
A lot, we had one or two tutors in each of our modules in a class of 12, this allowed for quality teaching time for 8 hours a day. The tutors were also very contactable when we had to write our assignments remotely after the study module which helped immensely.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The writing and communication skills I learnt from the assignments were invaluable as it allowed me to understand how best to get my point across in the most concise way. The presentations also allowed me to develop my confidence in speaking in front of crowds. However the university modules themselves didn't necessarily prepare me any better for my job roles.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
As there were a lot of interns, graduates and apprentices in the Academy at the same time, there was a great social group of people and we did stuff together all the time. However, this was conducted by us personally rather than having guided activities/social clubs from Nestlé themselves.
