Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work with apprentices who are completing learning and development apprenticeships at level 3 & 5. This involves carrying out regular one to one meetings and reviews, delivering teaching and learning sessions to groups and individuals. Part of my role is also to design and develop the resources for learning and development activities.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme very much, the structure is well organised and although I was originally concerned about the one to ones and classroom sessions changing to virtual delivery, this has been managed well and I can still get the teaching, learning and support that I need to help me work through my apprenticeship.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have gained new skills in relation to learning and development consultancy and the whole consultancy process. I have also learnt a lot about the different theories and models that relate to learning and development. I have also gained a much better understanding of how the wider business supports and needs to be taken into consideration when planning any learning and development activities. I have also built on the skills that I have in relation to project management.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is structured really well, it is broken up into different learning phases, which link the apprenticeship standard with the CIPD element of the apprenticeship allowing you to focus on one subject area at a time. I was provided with a detailed timetable at the start of my apprenticeship which gave the dates of all workshops and activities, allowing for forward planning.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive support when I need this, there has been some activities and research needed during my apprenticeship that are not naturally part of my role however I have been provided with the support needed to be able to gain access to information and carry out additional tasks to support me to be able to provide the necessary evidence required for my assessments.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have received regular support from my training provider to provide me with the teaching and learning needed and to also ensure that I have regular one to ones and reviews to discuss my progress and any areas of concern. My initial tutor left however I was provided with a replacement quickly, which ensured everything continued as normal. The tutor I now have is very supportive and provides additional resources when needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The teaching and learning that I have been provided, through my training provider, has allowed me to get more involved in additional activities, which would have been something that I would not have had the confidence to work on previously. It also has helped me to gain a more in-depth understanding of the reasons behind why we do things.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are various activities that you can get involved with, most of these have been limited due to the recent pandemic, however some extra curriculum activities have been arranged using Zoom which include weekly Yoga sessions. There are also opportunities to carry out volunteer work in your local or wider community.

Would you recommend Realise to a friend?

Why?
They offer a good choice of different qualifications/apprenticeships at various levels which are well structured and have clear timetables for completion. They have adapted well to remote working and been able to continue to deliver the teaching needed virtually, keeping the sessions interactive and engaging and without it having a negative impact on learning and progression.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Realise?
I would advise them that they will be given an in-depth introduction to get them started on their learning journey. The group workshops that take place throughout the programmes will allow them to engage, interact and build a relationship with others that are completing the same qualification. There are also opportunities given to stretch and challenge yourself throughout the programme which will help to individualise the learning experience.
