Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Within my role I work across two teams in Human resources which are the healthroster and bank team. For the healthroster team I answer email queries such as roster adjustments, unlocking rosters, expenses queries and also making user accounts. For the bank team I send out new starter information, which is an email with lots of attachments as well as phoning up the new starters to ensure they have login details.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my apprenticeship, I am offered a lot of support from both my colleagues at Solent NHS trust as well as my college tutor at Chichester college. I have weekly 1:1's to check on my wellbeing and overall, feel very content with my apprenticeship and all the learning that comes with it.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills over the course of my apprenticeship and I believe I am still learning new skills each day after working at Solent NHS Trust for over a year. I have gained a huge amount of confidence when it comes to talking to new people over the phone as well as dealing with a variety of email queries and also building good relationships with my work colleagues even if it is virtually.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I believe my apprenticeship is organised and structured extremely well. Despite starting three days before the national lockdown, I was offered a lot of support and have many 1 to 1 virtual sessions to help me with my training and get to know the different systems we use on a daily basis. I get one day a week to complete my studying and overall, I believe my apprenticeship and usual work balance is manageable and I am comfortable with my workload.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from Solent NHS Trust, no problem is ever too big and my colleagues and manager are always happy to help and offer advice to me. My college mentor is also very supportive and I know that if I have an issue that I can just email or call my mentor or work colleagues and they will be there to offer support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

When working towards my qualifications I am offered a wide range of support. Before being set a task my mentor will go through each learning objective to make sure the task is clear and if I have any questions they can be answered to resolve any issues. I really enjoy my apprenticeship and feel supported all the time.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe that all the modules I have completed in my apprenticeship have helped in one way or another during my daily work tasks. Such as the communication unit, communicating via emails and via phone call with both work colleagues and customers. I have used the communication unit a lot during my job as customer service to NHS employees is the main task.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are always lots of extra- curricular activities to get involved in at work. For example, there are different zoom meetings with Solent NHS Trust each day. Things like virtual yoga, virtual fit workouts, drawing sessions and wellbeing days. We are looked after and supported well. Wellbeing to the NHS especially over the past year is a massively important topic.

Why?
I would reccomend working for the NHS to a friend as I feel supported, treated respectfully and overall well looked after. The staff are friendly, the organisation really cares about your wellbeing and there are many beneifts as a member of staff. I would 100% reccomend doing an apprenticeship through the NHS.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
when applying for an NHS job answer the application form as well as you can and give lots of details. At the interview try not to be nervous, they just want to get to know you. Stay calm and focused. Research into the job you are applying for. Write down notes about the NHS history.
