Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Managing the hotel when higher managers aren’t there. We make sure all shifts run smoothly and deal with guests making sure the stay is nothing but perfect. We deal with financial paperwork and health and safety regulations within our site. We will help develop and guide our team to help their progression.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the challenge of completing the different topics. I always find new challenges thrill seeking. I find really pleasing the fact that my personal trainer is always there to support me when I need help with working on my apprenticeship. Above all I really enjoy completing my apprenticeship with lifetime training.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt more about how to ensure my team and my self treat all guests with respect and not to discriminate anyone. I use my swot to help my personal development. I also have learnt about menu creating and matching food with wines. The biggest thing I’ve learnt is the different leadership styles
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I find my apprenticeship is very well structured. It is easy to follow the guides you receive when starting the apprenticeship. It is all easy to follow when needing to access my course. I received my email couple days after my last meeting and I receive reminder couple days before.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My line manager runs multiple sites so I don’t see my manager that much as she has to split her time she supports me the best she can which can be difficult. When I really need advice and support from my line manager she is always there for me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I do get a lot of support from the training provider. There is a couple of times I’ve needed help but I struggle to get hold of my trainer but within a week I eventually get help. I understand that he must have a lot of other students all needing help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It will make me understand my role a lot more and the things I don’t know it will help clarify and things I do know it will help develop my skills even more to help perform better in my role which will help me get promoted with the company.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We occasionally have fundraising tasks we get involved in to raise money for great ormand street hospital which is our charity we raise money for. Currently we have the Everest challenge where we walk run swim cycle as much as we can and fundraise as a team to complete our target.

Why?
It is a secure workplace that doesn’t make you feel like a number. We are one big happy family who go through blood sweat and tears they are reasonable and understanding. They support their team and employees with everything they do. The security in all of our sites helps us do our jobs
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
Stand your ground don’t stand for nothing. Keep your head down and work hard. Make sure you still have a work life balance as it can disappear very quickly. Talk to employees when you looking for a job as they will give you their site advice and tips about whitbread
