Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Going to college and learning the fundamentals of a wind turbine technician as well as going on site and gaining more knowledge in the workplace plays a key role in what i do on a day to day basis. I spend most weeks at college and then spend time working on site when the college term holidays appear.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
thoroughly enjoy the apprenticeship and love that every day is different.
I find that being on site is great hands on experience and the college provides the academic understanding i will need.
I love that the program is a challenge and pushes me to new capabilities as well as meeting new people from all walks of life.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have began to apply skills learnt in college in the workplace and have gained a better understanding. I feel like i use my initiative better and have improve my problem solving skills. I have became much more organised and pay great attention to detail whether this be on my assignments or up a wind turbine

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The apprenticeship has been put together very well so far, i have enjoyed networking and meeting new people on the way both inside and outside of work and love the BTEC i am working towards. I feel that the classes i am doing will have a great impact on my knowledge towards wind turbines and renewable energy.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My early careers manager and in line manager are very supportive with my mental and physical wellbeing and are always there to support me if there is anything i am unsure about.
We have weekly review meetings to check on my progress and how i am finding the apprenticeship scheme
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
If i have any issues with the work they are always there to support me and when on-site the experienced technicians help me with things i am unsure about.
I feel comfortable in the workplace knowing that help is there if neccessary and look forward to completing the BTEC at college
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The level 3 BTEC which i will achieve at the end of the college course will help me in both my job role and day to day life. I can incorporate my learning up a turbine and use them to my advantage. The qualification is tailored towards the job role and feel it is very beneficial.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Out side of work there hasn't really been any extra-curricular activities to get involved in however me and the apprentices have formed a football team for the local league. I think it would be good if some extra-curricular activities could be put into place as it provides great team building

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EDF Trading to a friend?
Yes
Why?
EDF are such a great company to work for and i feel they really care towards their employees health and wellbeing. I feel all my needs are met and i have a great work to life balance and i am treated farely and respected in the working environment at EDF
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EDF Trading?
The best advice i could give is to simply be yourself. Showing an interest in helping the UK achieve net zero is so important and feel that this is key if you want to work at EDF. Another point of advice i would give is that it is important to accept both your flaws and any areas which you can improve on because it is important to be the best version of yourself
