Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a day to day basis, no day is ever the same for me! it is really exciting what happens in my day I could be doing trials on new packaging materials or on project calls to discuss the project progress. I also take part in daily operational review calls to discuss the factory needs and demand for the day
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy coming to work on my program and i have never woken up and dreaded coming to work. Every day is exciting especially working on live projects you know you will see in store. Also no day is ever the same when working in such a fast paced environment.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Since working at Nestle, i have developed my project management skills as i am always working on multiple projects at once, it is important i manage my time effectively to get the job done. I would also say i have definitely improved and developed my presentation skills as presenting is something i do often within my role.

Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The degree i am studding at Sheffield Hallam can sometimes be quite unorganized in terms of lectures which are put in last min. This can be a bit of a pain especially with such a full calendar to actually fit it in at last min. In terms of nestle the structure and organization it is 10/10. I have been put in for extra training to develop myself in food safety as well as task delegation within the team for projects
How much support do you receive from your employer?

When i started at nestle I was assigned a mentor to support me with anything whether it is personal or work related. I think this is a really good thing to have especially being new to the business and such a young age when i started, i think having mentor takes the pressure off and knowing there is someone there to support you to ask anything to is a really good thing to have.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The degree i study at Sheffield Hallam is very supportive. We have a uni mentor as well who we have 3 month reviews with myself and my manager to discuss my progress as well as performance. It was a good idea from the uni to invite managers to these meetings as it highlights to your manager what is happening outside of work at uni.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

With the degree theory being taught outside of work, and the projects for the EPA being work based definitely allows the degree theory to be applied to the job. I think this is important to be able to apply the theory in a real life environment making it more physical learning.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

My location doesnt actually offer any external activities to get involved with. However as an office, we are always planning to go out once lockdown has been lifted. There are a few grads and other apprentices on site too, and we all have a tight knit relationship and again planning to go out outside of work once lockdown has been lifted. I think due to covid the professional networking events have been held off, but speaking to other apprentices, they had this opportunity to go to these in Gatwick pre covid

Why?
I think working for nestle is definitely something to be proud of. as well the support you are given from the start and the way the company treats you is exceptional. Speaking to friends and family outside of work about my job, they cant believe as an apprentice the responsibility i have. The old cliché 'apprentice' making tea and coffee is definitely not what happens at nestle.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nestlé?
I think when applying for an apprenticeship at nestle, the most important thing to do is just be yourself. At the end of the day, when starting the apprenticeship, nestle don't expect you to have all the knowledge ready as this is learnt through training and university and college.
