Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My Role is reviewing business documents for printing before distributing them across the UK and the world. Including in this, is the actual printing of these documents as well as managing records across various cases and years within our centralised file store. We have also recently been taking on various scanning projects in order to digitise our documentation for our teams.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programmes because I feel it is challenging and engaging whilst also offering me career opportunities beyond my current role. Further, I feel that my team in my office are supportive in the way I train as they are always willing to help and cover when I can study or perform some training.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
The skills I have learn are more to do with administration and organisation. For example, how to properly format a document etc. Further, I have been refining my knowledge on Microsoft Office programmes which I haven't used in a few years, like Excel and Word. Finally, I feel that I have become an mentor to new starters in my role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is focused around the completion of assignments and the gradual gaining of knowledge and increased performance as time goes on. This is great for me because I prefer to learn at my own pace and engage with content in a more relaxed way. This then gives me confidence that I can do the assignments with ease.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive copious amounts of support from my employer, from my line manager to the national director, as he deals mainly with what my apprenticeship focuses on. The way in which they support in to include me with the daily processes and miniutiae of tasks that revolve around employees all around the country and in my office and team as well.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The support I receive is great because my tutor is often on hand to respond to emails containing queries for my work. As well as this, my tutor often sends out newsletters and email blasts most weeks with new learning materials to constantly improve our professional development. The workshops, however, due to working from home, feel long and dragged out because I'm often sat in the same place for 3 hours on end.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
My training, so far, has allowed me to see things in my workplace that I wouldn't usually see, and to see problems in different ways. It has also given me the confidence to work closer with a new team of people to push my professional development further and make new friends along the way.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are some, yes. There's often a newsletter containing some various achievements that people have been doing charitably outside of work, as well as football fantasy teams during the season and weekly meetings outside the workplace, for example in a bar, where people can unwind and talk candidly about work.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Mitie to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a terrific environment to begin a professional career, even though the work is relatively basic. The company is extremely supportive with whatever is going on outside of work, i.e. mental health crises, as well as supporting through education and training. They also believe is healthy salaries on top of a generous benefits package.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mitie?
I would like them to have been more honest with me during the interview process about the nature of the work, as well as the opportunities for education and retraining. I would also would advise them to branch into hospitality in order to tap up talent there, as I feel many skills gained from this industry are transferable to a workplace.
