Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
My role involves leading and improving the resourcing approach across an international Defence environment, ensuring vacancies are managed effectively from initial demand through to offer and start. On a day-to-day basis, this includes partnering with hiring managers and stakeholders, advising on attraction strategy, managing recruitment activity, reviewing business priorities, resolving hiring challenges, improving processes, and driving better visibility of recruitment and onboarding activity. The role is both operational and strategic, requiring me to balance immediate hiring needs with longer-term improvements in process, governance, reporting, and workforce planning. It also involves working across multiple teams and locations, influencing stakeholders, and identifying opportunities to create more efficient, consistent and value-adding ways of working.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
I enjoy the programme overall, particularly the opportunity it gives me to build strategic leadership knowledge and apply learning directly to my role. It has helped me think more broadly, strengthen my confidence, and reflect more critically on how I approach leadership, stakeholders, and organisational improvement. The most valuable aspect is being able to connect theory with real business challenges. At times, balancing the programme alongside a demanding role can be challenging, but overall I find it worthwhile and beneficial to my development.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Through the programme, I have developed both new and existing skills. In particular, I have strengthened my strategic thinking, stakeholder management and leadership confidence. It has helped me become more reflective in how I approach challenges, influence others and connect day-to-day activity to wider business priorities. I have also developed my ability to analyse problems more critically, structure improvement ideas more clearly and apply leadership models in a practical way. Alongside this, the programme has built on existing strengths such as communication, organisation and relationship management, while helping me become more confident in operating at a more strategic level across complex and sometimes ambiguous environments.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
The programme is well organised and clearly structured, which makes it easier to follow and engage with. The expectations, learning content and overall framework are set out in a way that supports steady progress and helps link each part of the programme together. I have found the structure helpful in balancing academic learning with practical application in the workplace, and it provides a clear route for development throughout the programme.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
I receive strong support from my employer in relation to the programme. There is clear recognition of the value of the apprenticeship and the development it supports, and I am given the opportunity to apply my learning in a practical way through my role. The support provided helps me balance programme requirements alongside a demanding job, and I feel the organisation is supportive of my continued development and progress.
