Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

From day to day , I get involved with clients , from washing to blow drying, styling and anywhere I can learn. I make sure the clients are greeted and seated , asking about their day. In the shop , I make sure to wash any redefine of the services before , and making drinks.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme very much as I feel supported, both theory and practical wise , leading on the job what it’s like to be a hairdresser. Not only do I get to learn hands on , I also get to create a clientele with all the clients.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I’ve developed lots of skills , for example: my social skills have improved tremendously from coming into contact with people from the offset . I also have learnt different styling techniques from washing to blow drying to colouring. This includes my skills on the theory and science behind hairdressing as a whole.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is very organised/structured. Besides from working hours at the salon , third is an online profile “one file “ where I am assessed on my progress practically and theory wise. This allows me to teach my progress while working on my weaknesses.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a tremendous amount of support from my employer. She has always encouraged me to get involved with a service , challenging myself to do better. Not only that , she has made me feel welcome and comfortable in her salon which allows to me get on well with the clients and my peers.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive so much support from my training provider. She has encouraged me to reach my full potential theory wise and practically , joining webinars each month , but also coming in and assessing my progress , showing me my strengths and weaknesses for me to improve upon.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that my qualification allows me to understand and perform better in my role.the theory information that I obtain allows me to understand the process properly , even giving clients advice and tips. With my practical skills, this gives me confidence and will allow myself to reach my potential.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Not so far , but everyday at the salon feels like a social activity , interacting with different people each day , learning about themselves and their lifestyles. Even out of work , I will notice a few faces that say hi to me , which it’s super nice.

Not only does this company support you , but it highlights you as a person and your own capabilities. You will be working hands on in a salon with a whole team of support with you along the way , mentoring and teaching you important information that will help you in the long run.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Realise?
I would say , try your best and don’t give up. There are so many ways of getting support through realise, helping your every need. You feel included and protected , allowing you to get the best experience of becoming a hairdresser.
