Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I assist teams on audits by setting up workbooks and doing basic, first-year work on clients. This includes a range of areas that companies have to account for as part of their year end procedures. I also am being coached on how to fill out these workbooks by seniors at the firm
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my program a lot. Learning about how business operate has been a passion of mine since GCSEs, and I'm glad i went into this sector as I get to have a deep dive into these areas with my work. I also get a look at how a business performs under certain circumstances
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a lot about how businesses operate in general and the types of documents they have to fill out and keep as part of their normal procedures. I have also learnt about accounting in general via my training provider, attending college and completing exams as part of my qualification
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It's well structured. It's obvious where I am and where I'm going, however the awareness that someone is an apprentice at my firm is limited. I can join a team and they won't know if i'm on the graduate scheme or the apprenticeship scheme which can make it difficult as we learn basics at different rates.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support is great. The support structure is very obvious from even before you officially accept an offer, with a second year on the program reaching out if you have any questions, once you join the firm this person is deemed your buddy and you have a councilor too as your first port of call
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider is good too. It could be improved with more proactive support, but if you require it, it's there. Tutors are available almost all the time and the revision materials are great and varied. Utilizing them is super easy too. As there are other apprentices, asking them is easy as well.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think it's helped a lot, although working has helped more in my qualification than the other way around. Seeing what happens day to day helps me grasp concepts much easier, although this may change for different people. I believe that going forward, they will become more in line with each other in this regard
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are, although its very difficult at the moment. I am excited for these events, such as socials, as I believe it will help me get to know my peers much better than just speak to them on a teams call. There are a wide range of activities and events that are dotted around the year.

Why?
If this is a industry you want to join, EY is the place to be. I believe EY is the best company to join for a work/life balance, people areas and extra cirricular events. Support is great and there's always an element of "if you need someone you can message anyone"
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
Assessment days are purely about how you act when faced in a situation. It requires quick thinking and analytical skills in order to do well. It's also a lot about personality. Be yourself and if they want you, they'll get you. It's the best application experience I faced when applying for these sorts of schemes.
