Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is a non client facing role in the Aviation insurance broking industry. Within my role I assist the Client Executives to service the clients in the best possible way. I mainly work on resolving the queries we get from the processing teams to ensure the client has the best possible experience.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have enjoyed every moment of my apprenticeship as it was a fresh start for me and a whole new environment and industry. The colleagues at Marsh are all very professional and ensure that the work gets completed but they are all very welcoming and helpful. i have learnt so much in the past 16 months and would highly recommend the Marsh apprenticeship scheme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Before starting at Marsh I had never used Microsoft Outlook and had used Microsoft Excel very minimally. Since using both these programmes everyday I am now very confident in the use of both and have started to teach my colleagues in how to use them. I have also improved on my communication skills by; meeting people in the office, sending emails across the business and using the phone since working from home.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The apprenticeship programme was very well structured at the start. it was a mixture of face to face sessions in London and Webinars from the comfort of the office in Norwich. The main problem that was faced was the COVID-19 Pandemic which resulted in everything being moved to online webinars, but the course was adapted accordingly.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There was always support from my manager during the apprenticeship. She ensured that i was on track and met my deadlines when coursework was due. there were many resources available from previous apprentices and the apprenticeship team organised calls with previous apprentices so we could hear their experiences.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
At the start of the apprenticeship, the training provider allocated every apprentice a training coach who was there to give us 1:1 training and feedback. This coach also marked and graded our coursework so that meant we were able to receive pointers directly from the person who graded us.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My apprenticeship was 'Business Administration Level 3' which gave a very good overview into the world of business which helped with my overall knowledge of businesses but it did not cover Insurance much which could have been more useful for my job role. it did help me understand the office environment which helped me understand the day to day work life i should expect.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of extra curricular activities and groups to join at Marsh for every person. For me personally i joined a group of lads that play 5 a side football every two weeks. the lads came from every department in Marsh which was nice to meet new people and not just make friends from within my department.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Marsh McLennan to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Marsh is such a great company to work with such good benefits for their colleagues. I have enjoyed every moment off being at marsh and when you enjoy your work, you complete it to high standards. i am the youngest in the Aviation department but i felt included from the on set and have found the entire experience very enjoyable.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marsh McLennan?
Do not get intimidated by the size of the company. one thing i done was go to an open day at the office which let you see the building, play some games about the industry and meet some employees, so i would 100% recommend attending an open day. make sure you are fully prepared for interviews. finally i would recommend you to just enjoy the process and apply!
