Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role as a night receptionist is to make sure that the guests in the hotel have a safe quiet night. To enforce this I take walks round the building, every half hour to an hour, making sure people are being quiet and to make sure there is no other issues. I make sure there is nothing on the corridors that could cause harm. I check in any late arrivals. as well as deal with any complaints that may arise.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have enjoyed this apprenticeship quite a lot as it has allowed me to look at aspects of the business that i may have never looked in to too much, such as why things are how they are or the reason of growth. as well as having someone to ask me questions that relate to the apprenticeship to test my knowledge, as my mentors have been people who have worked in the same company and have been able to give me examples of their own experiences.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed more problem solving skills as well as communication skills. My time management skills have also become more precise. I feel as though I'm more organised and my ability to multitask proficiently has increased a lot. My attention to detail is something that has also improved. My ability to lead a shift is something new I learned while working at premier inn, as well as the responsibility that comes with the job.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
in terms of organised it wasn't the best, due to me swapping mentors twice, however it is understandable due to covid-19, all mentors were lovely and supportive. the structure was easy to follow, i was able to stay ahead as opposed to falling behind. the resources that were available as well as the modules were a little confusing, as they didn't really relate to my position, however the mentors made up for that by rephrasing in ways that do relate to me.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
to be honest i didn't receive much help from my bosses, only 1 of them who was the assistant manager at the time was asking me how things were and how i was finding it and if i needed help as he was doing the level 3 during that time. my mentors were brilliant given the current climate.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
i received a lot of support, they were always willing to answer any question that i had during the 1 to 1s as well as outside this. they were clear with me on what needed doing by specific dates to make sure that i didn't fall behind. they were able to help phrase questions and modules that relate to the company i work for as well as having extensive knowledge about my position.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
it has given me a little more confidence in the knowledge that i have gained, as well as the confidence to try move up within the organisation. also it has motivated me to learn more about my position and other positions that i may potentially move to. its made me happier in my role which in turn positively affects my attitude.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
unfortunately we don't have anything like that which I'm aware off. especially with me being a nights team member id imagine it would be difficult.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Whitbread plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
the reason as to why i would recommend them would be because the 2 years i have worked here i have enjoyed my job role, i have the opportunity to improve myself, i have great colleagues, they are somewhat flexible with my hours and for me personally it has been one of the best decisions to start working here.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
i would say be honest and genuine. as the more comfortable you come across the more you would fit in. naturally it does depend on what position you're going for, as you need to show competence for the role, show that you can respect others and take advantage of the opportunities given.
