Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Kitchen Team Leader at Premier Inn. The role includes high quality food preparation and service in a high intensity environment, accurate daily/weekly documentation for example fridge/freezer temperature recordings, probe calibration readings and food temperature checks before serving. I also have to do a fair share of cleaning and lead a team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy learning about other aspects of my job/business that aren't particularly touched upon on a daily basis when I'm working. The work is somewhat challenging without being too overwhelming and fairly easy to juggle with work commitments, it's provided at a pace congruent with my development.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Most of the skills pertaining to working in a commercial kitchen have been learned on the job due to lack of prior experience, as an aid my apprenticeship has given me a fundamental knowledge of many areas. I believe I have developed existing communication skills and harnessed them in a professional environment, amongst others.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I think it's super well organised with really distinct learning subcategories. As the apprenticeship has unfolded I have progressed seamlessly from subjects such as legal and governance to personal development and performance, picking up a whole heap of knowledge along the way, which I have also been applying regularly.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I haven't had too many scenarios that I have needed employer support in regards to the apprenticeship. During those small amount of times that I have, they've always been extremely accommodating, allowing me access to information that has helped a lot in my research and being open to knowledge growth.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My regional training provider has been brilliant, arranging meetings around my schedule, always being available for any queries that have arisen and just giving me a ton of insight into my job role, the foundation of knowledge I will need to succeed and the correct path to follow to complete my qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I think it has helped stitch together a larger background knowledge base of the industry I work in and my job role specifically, with how to apply that on a daily manual shift-to-shift basis. These two things together, along with repetition, have helped me to perform better in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
We plan on doing some physical extra-curricular activity with a goal of raising money for a chosen charity, I believe it'll involve some kind of exercise. We are currently furloughed and don't have much access to events, but when we were open for custom we'd do team building work night's out.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Whitbread plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a comfortable, clean and safe 3 star hotel for an incredibly reasonable price. It guarantee's a good night's sleep, accommodates for a variety of different people including families and disabled with an on-site restaurant to fulfill any eating needs that may occur. For them reasons I would recommend.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
Accept that it might be physically/mentally difficult at the start, but with a good team surrounding you, imparting their prior knowledge and experience onto you, you'll soon reach a satisfying standard of customer service and product quality that you can be proud of, which should lead to overall job satisfaction.
