Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a day to day basis, my role includes dealing with guest enquiries, checking guests in, booking guests in for breakfast, dealing with in-house guests with any requests they have, undertaking health and safety tasks such as testing the fire alarm and testing the water seldoms etc, I will also be upstairs helping the housekeepers either clean or check the rooms to ensure they're up to a high safe standard, I have the safety of guests, and responsibility for looking after the safe and till money and counting large amounts of cash.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the apprenticeship being able to do it in the comfort of my home or at work and studying whilst putting it into practice has really helped me gain confidence and ambition to go further.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have definitely gained more skills and enhanced the ones I already had prior. My communication skills have improved and the way I adapt my service more. My computer skills have improved, but the apprenticeship has given me more skills and an insight to roles higher up such as dealing with difficult conversations, reviewing feedback and looking at things to implement to help.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very organised. Just unfortunately due to covid I haven't had any face to face meetings it has all been over the phone so I don't feel I got the most out of it but I still enjoyed it and felt supported.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer does help in my studies, he asks if there's anything I'm stuck on and will give me advice on it and just generally makes sure I am getting on with it okay.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I feel like I do get support from my trainer and can message with a worry or enquiry and she is happy to help, the same with my old mentor. However I would prefer to get some feedback on the work I'm submitting to make sure I am on the right path.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It really helps in my everyday role and has given me an insight to the managers role and what I would be doing if I was in that position. But since starting the programme my manager has been giving me more responsibility to help put it into practice
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Not at my workplace but my apprenticeship trainer has set me on some virtual classes which have helped.

Why?
They're a great company to work for, I have enjoyed working here the last 1 year and 4 months, they have looked after us during the pandemic and feel supported in every aspect.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
Be yourself on interviews as you do group and individual interviews and they look for the most suited personality, experience and qualifications are not that important as I had neither and was up against others who did.
