Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
On a day to day basis i would over see the general running of the hotel. Id be the lead of a team of up to 16 crew members. Where id be doing anything from admin to housekeeping/head housekeeping - or cooking/ waitressing to reception and serving patrons at the bar.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I thoroughly enjoyed the programme. As someone who loves to learn and believes education doesnt stop just because youre out of the classroom, i really got dug in deep. And ulrike the tutor was PHENOMENAL! She was there whenever i needed, was a shoulder when needed and really did work around me.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes. Absolutely! Through working at premier inn and doing the apprenticeship i gained many new skills, some of which include restudying my math, boosting my overall confidence and having the courage to take charge in a leaders position.
It also helped me to help my fellow crew members who were wanting to develop further.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme was organised extremely well. As previously stated the tutors worked to when i was available and were always available for me to contact. With the tutors travelling to where we work it really helps take a lot of stress off! And even the video calls throughout the 1st lockdown.. A*
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
We get some support. At times it couldve been a lot better, especially when the 4 main crew at management levels are all doing over time and studying the apprentice. But overall i cant complain, different levels of management are there for you at different times. And they do have networks in place for us.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The highest level of support! I cannot stress enough! My trainer especially was there non stop throughout my course, wether in person, over the phone, on video chat or just a quick message! She was there for both work and personal problems and really helped me and more members at site through a lot.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel it helps me tremendously! It has boosted my confidence soo much, not just in the role i play, but in myself as a individual. Its helped me be able to spot better potential in members who want to step up o to leadership roles and has helped me better engage with my equals.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
No! Or if there is at all they are very rare! The only things i can think of are charity events, in where we plan and execute the event ourselves. I do believe its something that would help a lot of staff relax, however in such establishments theres not enough time for your own private life with all the over time.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Whitbread plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend premier inn because even with all their faults and flaws, when things are going well they really do work like a good oiled machine, and when things are going good and everyones not stressed to the max they remember to look after you and give back the good.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
I would give the advice that you really have to be willing to sacrifice a lot, especially if you want to move up the career ladder. You need to be stern with yourself and need to be able to take a lot on the chin. But no matter how bad it gets, it always gets better.
