Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I help manage my team, making sure they know what they are doing and how the best way of working is. I am responsible for the safe count and I am also the one my employees come to if they have any issues or worries. I am also the funniest manager so that’s a job in it’s self.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I loved the course. The flexibility was what got me the most. I had a few times where the mental health got a bit much and my RT would instead of do a heavy lesson, she would make time to ask me about my issues and see if she could offer any suitable advice. This made me enjoy learning because my RT understood and gave me support and time.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since starting my course I have found that I was working at a basic level of my job, I am now working a lot more efficiently and pro active. My people skills have improved and I’ve found that after learning the character profiles I am now able to judge what guest will want what style of service.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My lessons/sessions were always on time. There was a small hiccup with the signing up but that was swiftly smoothed out and sorted. It’s all on my time and my schedule so it’s well structured to my life. Never had a time where I felt let down.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer would always allow me the time to do my course in the quieter times of my shifts and for hours after my shifts. They were always happy to answer any questions or fill out a form for me. They helped guide me the best they could. Very good approach.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Oh so much. My RT would always make sure I was doing okay and not confused on anything. Answering all my questions and helping me keep focused. My RT would go above and beyond to make sure I felt okay about everything and if I had any issues we would smooth them out
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I now know the ins and outs of my job. How to support people, how to judge the right characters and give the right service, how to also take a step back and let my staff do the work and allow me to manage. It’s helped me so much.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Not at the moment As we are going through COVID, but I’m sure we will fire up a football team at some point. I am looking forward to the Pi&R parties again. Being able to relax and party with your bosses after a brilliant year is the best feeling

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Whitbread plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Whitbread are strict and fair. They are supportive and also allow you to do you. They will push you to your limits so you know what your potential is. They will also reward you for the good that you do. There’s definitely a family vibe about whitbread. And all they have done for GOSH should show you their hearts.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
Be yourself and don’t try too hard. Whitbread is made of real people and they know what’s up. If you have colour and spark In your personality show it in your interview. They like knowing you have a spark they can encourage into a flame. Don’t knock it till you try it
