Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Assisting the HBU head office team with ensuring the supply of our portfolio of 70 medicines to the NHS, private hospitals and retail pharmacy. This involved horizon scanning, creation of promotional materials, management of ordering promotional materials for customers, market research and monitoring out of stocks.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
My manager has given me plenty of responsibility throughout - allowing me to manage my own projects, manage stakeholders independently and nominate myself for training - whilst also ensuring that I was well trained and able to contact him regarding anything I was unsure about.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
This placement has allowed me to develop my interpersonal skills and build my confidence through networking with a range of colleagues across the company. My statistical analysis skills have improved through management of various excel spreadsheets for monitoring new competitors or out of stocks within the market. I have had the opportunity to take part in various extra training sessions, including marketing specific, self-advocacy and creative thinking.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received plenty of support and guidance throughout. I was assigned a buddy during my first month who helped and supported me throughout my training. I had regular calls with my manager during onboarding and these check-ins continued throughout my placement. The wider team were very helpful and approachable throughout my placement.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I have loved the company culture and atmosphere at Pfizer. The company prides itself of hosting events and activities throughout the year, allowing cross functional networking. Pfizer offers 5 days for volunteering a year for employees, which I have used to become a Social Mobility Foundation mentor this year. The company regularly discusses diversity during team meetings and company-wide webinars, and I have enjoyed attending Pfizer Women's Resource sessions throughout my placement.

What advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer
The interview process follows the common 'assessment centre' template in which you take part in a group activity and then have an individual interview. I found my interview to be quite informal and rather enjoyable. Just remember to enjoy the group activity and be yourself.
