Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Within Siemens Healthineers my role within the department is to support the AQC area as an existing employee for the organisation on this area. During my time supporting this area it is my role to undertake learning which will help me achieve my level 5 to which is my desired role at the end of this apprenticeship. My day to day tasks are:
- Using my previously trained knowledge to help build cartridges and hit performance targets.
- Use my organisational skills to help organise the team at the start of day, during the day and if needed to cover any tea or lunch breaks.
- Using my prior knowledge of the department allows me to highlight any product/manufacturing issues with cartridges or parts coming through the line. With my new learning skills, I now know the route of protocol when needing to highlight these issues.
- When working as a team I have to be able to effectively communicate with my current team, L5’s and my line manager. This varies from how the area is performing as a team, are there any issues within the day which could hinder the performance of the team and also communicating any issues which I may have or any support in which I may need.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the everyday running of the programme and find that when the weeks are organised that it can be very successful and beneficial towards my learning.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned new skills and been able to develop further on previously existing skills. Since becoming an Apprentice my continuous learning development has only improved and made me more driven as a person and within my job role. As a developing Level 5, it is my role to assist line managers with the daily running of the area, tasks which include communication between peers and line manager, ensuring paperwork meets the quality standards and making sure the performance charts and systems are updated with the appropriate data

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I have always had issues with the organisation and structure of my personal programme. Now it has been highlighted a number of times and actions are being made to progress forward.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer is very supportive and is willing to give me any support when needed. She also goes out of her way to ensure that if any new projects would be relevant to my learning then she will include me in them.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I recieve ample support when needed from my college tutor. We have catch up's and have time to disscuss any work set or review any work which has been submitted.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have a charity of the year which the business runs events throughout the year which always include some sort of team work style to help bring people closer together whilst raising money for a good cause.
