In my role as an apprentice I visit different areas of the manufacturing facility, building up knowledge of the jobs and different roles within the company. This aids me in building up a wide variety of knowledge and skills specific to my sector.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy working at Rolls Royce. Engineering and aerospace is a field which interests me and the combination of both provides me with the ideal working environment. Furthermore, all the colleagues I work with are all very pleasant and will do anything to help me out, which makes the programme more enjoyable everyday.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

During my time at Rolls Royce, I have learnt many methods and techniques used my employees at the company which are exclusive to this company. These methods have been tested and proven to be more efficient than alternative traditional methods.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is very well structured. This is a combination of the structure from SETA (college) and from Rolls Royce. SETA provide structured learning in order to allow us to make the maximum progress possible. Further more, Rolls Royce provide us with a clear structure of which areas of the facility we spend our time. This gives us enough time to learn as much as possible in each sector.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Rolls Royce provide apprentices with a lot of support. An excellent example of this is the way the dealt with apprentices during the Covid-19 situation. Rolls Royce continued to support apprentices through their apprenticeship without any impact on pay or benefits. I’m addition to this Rolls Royce also support apprentices personally. Examples of this include mentors and mental health champions who we can go to if we need someone to talk to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

SETA offer a wide range of support both academically and personally. Their friendly approach makes the tutors very approachable if learners need help with work they may be stuck with or issues at home. Furthermore they are also a member of the C-Card scheme along with many other things similar to this, showing their dedication to supporting learners every way they can.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The learning done with our training provider (level 3) shows us the theory behind the practical learning we do on site at Rolls Royce. This teaches us why we do what we do on site.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Rolls Royce has many extra-curricular activities, to suit the preference of many employees. This includes things from football to social clubs. However due to the current Covid-19 restrictions many extra-curricular activities have had to be put on hold to comply with the current guidelines.

Why?
Rolls Royce is an excellent company to work for with many benefits to help you outside of work as well as inside. Health and safety is exceptional and I feel safe doing what I do everyday. Furthermore everyone is very kind, helpful and easy to get along with
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
When applying for Rolls Royce, I would advise them to do some research on the company, to ensure they are confident they know why they wish to apply there. Furthermore, I would advise to research all the roles and specifically the role they are applying for to ensure this is definitely the role they want to do.
